I have messy fairies that come in the middle of the night and terrorize my house. Laundry everywhere, dishes in the sink, juice stains on the floor. They are messy those little fairies!
But as the official Minister Of Planning in my house I have spent a great deal of time trying to organize my thoughts on how I am going to tackle this mess. And that is why I'm on the computer writing rather than picking up....
I'm overwhelmed by the disaster! I need a maid! All I'm doing is just staring at the mess thinking what needs to be done and how I can accomplish it. But once again I'm typing...
I actually got a phone call from my mother today and she told me how my dad thinks I have the most immaculate house on the base. Why you might ask? Because on my Twitter page and Facebook I talk about how I'm cleaning my house or planning to do so. Very true, I should just get up off the sofa, put my laptop away and start cleaning the house. But really, I'm just overwhelmed and wish someone else would do it!
But my mom did give me this great tip: Instead of thinking about all that needs to be done, think, "today I'm going to clean the stove". Sound easy enough so I did the dishes. That was my accomplishment for the day. Tomorrow, the fridge. She also said you can do other things, you know the jobs you don't mind doing (for me it's laundry), then before you know the job you schedule to do will be done and you'll feel great that you managed to get at least one thing done!
And you know what? The toys are still on the ground, paperwork still needs to get done but I'm extremely happy that the dishes got done!
The job doesn't seem so daunting now that I look at the smaller picture.

Thanks for visiting my blog :o) Uggg cleaning! It's the bain of my existence. Sometimes I just get so overwhelmed by it all. As soon as I get everything nice and neat, the kids come in and it's like I didn't do anything. It's a battle, I'm afraid I will never win!!
Mom! What a great source of inspiration to all of life's little problems. Maybe I should take this suggestion and apply it to dieting and exercise. But then again... I'm typing... Monday?
LOL!! Monday it is!!
Hi Vanessa!! I caught you on the MBC 100 .. I wanted to welcome you to the blogging world, I see you are new at it! I am Annissa, I have 4 boys (help I'm so out numbered!) and I have three blogs (it was 2 but I added another last night when I decided to homeschool my oldest son for various reasons.) My main blog is at http://moonnstarmommy.blogspot.com if you decide to check it out. I am really enjoying your blog, I loved the "list of things I don't want" .. that was great! And I totally hear you on the dirty fairies! Those evil things!!
Yes, sometimes its all over isn't it?
Like the clutter fairy hit the fan or something. I have so much to do myself and spent the morning at yard sales and now? well now, you know what I'm doing :) Commenting on how Im not doing anything
tracy
I know how it is. one step at a time, one thing at a time.
maybe it will get done.
thank you for following me on mbc, i'm now following you.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and being a follower! I can relate to your post about cleaning...I absolutely hate it. I think if I were living back in the 1800's I'd have needed to be a very rich girl with maids or something because I couldn't have survived doing all that housework by hand without washing machines, driers, etc. I try to clean but I don't sweat it if my house has dust bunnies because I chose to spend time with my family instead. If someone's coming over, then I'm a mad woman! lol.
Oh very cute blog! And even cuter pictures of your family. Best wishes, happily following along.

hi vaness,
thanks so much for stoppy by my blog. the "mess faries" lol that is pretty funny, but like your mom said, take it one thing at a time... if you can make the time, one room at a time would be great... and don't sweat the small stuff, soon enough your kids won't be there and it will be sooo much different and you will be yearning for the "mess faries" to come visit again! happy mother's day!

My house is the same way, joy of young children. Great tip to focus on one thing per day. Following you from MBC
Happy Mother's Day!

What a great idea for a post - I love it! Happy Mother's Day and thanks for stopping by my blog!
Thanks for following me on my site. I am laughing because I have come to see that cleaning anything and it staying clean is a fairy tale. I have 3 kids and when they are in school I am able to clean everything, organize, cook and do laundry. When 3pm is here all the toys, books etc come back. Never ending battle. I am just grateful for school cause as a stay at home mom that is my time.
I hate cleaning! I try to take things one step at a time too. My biggest problem is clutter. My son's school papers (I don't even want to think of next year when we'll have 2 boys in school!), mail, bills, my school papers, Chris's misc. junk, coupons, magazines. I just don't know what to do with it all.
Honey, I get people flocking to my blog all the time from google searches on this very topic! "how to keep my house clean with kids" " how to start cleaning" "housekeeping routines" etc... I'll make a deal with you! If you want, I'll help you out! I'll be your email mentor, one military mom to another! I love all things domestic, and I have 4 kids, ages 7, 5, 5, and 3... If I can do it, anyone can! I have total belief and faith in you! If I am your support for the house keeping, will you keep me on track for the biggest loser lifestyle? :)

LOL! I was just thinking of all that I need to get cleaned today...ugh.. when I read this post. What a great perspective... I think I'll try it today...starting with putting away the laundry. Huge acomplishment if it gets done. Thanks for the tip!
Btw... I am hosting a giveaway for military wives on my blog. Check it out if you get a chance. Ends Memorial day- 6 winners.
