Good Morning! Here's another riviting discussion on Momversation Monday!
Daphne Brogdon of Cool Mom bring up the sensitive question of do we use the "R" word and is it OK to use it?
The "R" word for those who don't know is retard.
Lets break down the word shall we?

I, like Dana Loesch of Mamalogues, listened and I also watched the Sarah Palin clip, and there was a difference in which the word was being used because as Dana said Limbaugh was using it to highlight politcal incorrectness in the aftermath of what was said by the Chief of Staff, who used it to attack a group of people who did not like what they were doing in the White House. Unfortunately in Palin's interview her point was lost somewhere in between trying to get the Chief of Staff fired and her promotion of her Facebook page.
As Alice Bradley of Finslippy pointed out, I wouldn't want to say that out in public because I would be scared to use the word in complete fear of insulting someone.
I believe in this day and age where we have so many words to choose from, we can officially say that satire or not, the use of the "R" word is no longer necessary.
Do we really need to be using this word?
Of course we all used the word at one point or another, I'll admit that I have, but looking back to my conversation on which I used it, I realized it didn't add to the point I was making. As a matter of fact, it decreased my point because the only thing that was most predominant in my statement was the use of the word and how uneducated I sounded in that moment.
What about you?
How do you feel about the use of the "R" word?

2 witnessing the mayhem:
I don't really like the word but I know that I sometimes say it. But I never actually use it to describe someone with some sort of retardation (okay I think retardation is an actual medical term and is used.). But I would never say that some is the R word. This probably doesn't make sense!
I used to use it all the time. then in high school my best friend told me how much that word offended her becasue she had a couple learning disabilities (But my God, she's a smart one) and the kids at her elementary school used to make fun of her and call her a retard. I stopped using it then.
My fiance on the onther hand takes no issues with using the word. In fact he loves using it. And this has only gotten worse since boot camp where all his buddies used the word all the time. I hate when he says it, but I find it slipping out of my own lips every now and then now thanks to him. I reallyl don't want our son to use this word, but good luck getting his dad to stop.
And, tfn, makes sense to me.
