Once at home I decide to call the passport office to get an update on our paperwork. The nice gentleman says to me they received it but now they can't find it! Lovely! He says they will call back with 24-48 hours. Since I've already heard that from the Support Center, I tell him no problem and I hang up the phone.
Mental note: Call the passport people on Thursday.
Tuesday- The kids and I paint a large poster for Cpl. Mayhem ( To look at the completed poster check back on Friday!). And I gave them paint! Why? Because I love mopping my floors three time a week and it's only Tuesday! Ears, elbows, knees and feet are covered in paint and it becomes more of a task instead of a fun time. And this is only phase one of the poster! Fights break out on where Ducky and Chicky are painting, the poster is 5 feet long! And they both want to paint on the right hand corner of it! And to tell them that there still is another 4 feet of poster left to cover seems to make the matter worse.
Baths and an attempt at some homework is made then everyone goes to bed early.
Wednesday- With the paint incident under the bridge it's on to phase two of the poster: Adding stickers and the message ( come back on Friday to see it!).
The only instruction I give my kids are let me put the message down first, then you can go crazy with the stickers. Ask you may not have noticed instruction never seems to go past me talking. It's like I open my mouth to give the instruction and then.... they go deaf! Selective hearing is what my mother calls that. I mentioned it to her this weekend... I don't remember her replying to it. Except that I agreed with her on something...
Anyways, the poster project was a success and my leadership skills got a "D+".
Thursday- The best day of the week. Because I dealt with the passport people once again. This time I got someone who was overzealous about her job.
I called again to inquire on the passports and she tells me that mine was fine and when I should expect it. Then she gets to my kids and she tells me that I missed a section. It's the section that asks about adoption and custody arrangements. So I let her know that my husband is overseas and we are happily married, he has sent me a letter explaining that he is well aware of us going on vacation. So I ask what needs to get done to get the passports processed and she says and I quote, "Your husband needs to go and find an Embassy in Afghanistan so he can fill out the paperwork required for the passports". Seriously?
My husband now has to go drop everything that he is doing to look for an Embassy in Afghanistan? Dude's lucky enough have air conditioning! Is there even an Embassy there? After a couple of more minutes of confusing babble between myself and Captain "No Help", I call my father.
Actually, I was calling for my mom because when you are looking for some sympathy you call her. Instead I got Father Logic. Who immediately tells me to call the Support Center, cause I got great support there last time. Aside from my sarcasm, this phone call between Support Center was much better than the last, the person on duty was extremely friendly and helpful.
After gathering my thoughts, I have a nagging suspicion that the lady from the Passport office is wrong. I make my last phone call to get the best person ever! I give her my story and she says that I just needed to answer two yes or no questions and I can do it right now. No need for searching for husband overseas to sign for anything, look for an Embassy, nothing. Yes or no questions. So Captain "No Help" name has been changed to Captain "No Clue"!
Friday- Luckily a slow day!
Saturday- BBQ with a girlfriend of mine and a close call with the flames! BUT an amazing steak and fun was had by all!
Sunday- Surprisingly a good day. After Ducky talked to Cpl. Mayhem a couple of days before, his attitude changed drastically and now is willing to hear me out.
Closing out my evening I do my run down of locking doors and checking windows. As I'm doing my checks I don't give myself enough clearance and I slam my face with the closing door! Perfect!
Anyone else wonder why I'm glad it's Monday?!
