Momversation Monday: Would You Let Your Kids Into Showbiz?

Morning Everyone!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!! I spent a great deal of time thinking about, talking about and watching the Academy Awards and the red carpet! I'm exhausted!
Speaking of the Oscars, today's Momversation topic is all about showbiz and would you put your kids in it.

For me, it would have to depend on my kids and how they feel about it. I would never put them into something they do not want to do. Who is really happy then? The mom who has to drag the kid who doesn't want to be there in the first place? Just sounds like a wasted afternoon to me.
And besides, the industry is cutthroat even with child models and actors. I don't want them to be disappointed if they don't get they job or get a complex. How do you explain that to a kid?

They have to want to do it like they want air to breath, because it's an overwhelming "hobby".  If they get to an age where they understand and really want to be a part of the "glitz and glamour" ( we all know it's not!). I would consider it. But start them small. All the best actors started in their local community theatres, if they love doing that only then will I make the big leap to showbiz.

I'm a little bias but I think they would make great models!

But if they are not having fun then no one is!

What would you do?

My Really Bad Version Of Groundhog’s Day

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve felt like Bill Murray in the movie Groundhog Day, living out the same day over and over again.
I don’t wake up to an alarm, but to Chicky whining about one thing or another and bugging for food. It doesn't help that I'm sick as a dog and loud noises hurt my head.
The day continues with more whining and more bugging for food, with the switch to fighting with Ducky and the occasional injury due to someone not listening to me tell them to stop whatever it is they are doing because they are going to get hurt. Only to end the day with Chicky whining about bedtime and eventually crying herself to sleep.

Now that I think of it, this has been going on for more that a couple of weeks. It happened during Cpl. Mayhem's tour but it was easier to tolerate when I didn't feel like a tank had run over my head.
Is this really it? Is this going to be everyday life from now on?
I sure hope not cause I’m just about ready to set the pair on the curb with a cardboard sign, “ Free to good home! “. Their only salvations is that they are cute!
What will it take for the movie to end?

Vent over... Later days!

Momversation Monday: Were You Scared to Become A Mom?

Momversation Monday!!

Were you scared to become a mom?

I sure was! Mainly because was not great with kids. I still don't think I'm great with kids.

I was scared to hold them, change them, feed them, psychologically damage them landing them in therapy for the remainder of their adult lives!

BREATH!

Yes, I was scared to become a mom.

I was scared what it was going to do with my social life since most, no, ALL of my friends were kid-free at  the time. I had no one to turn to for advice, and I was resentful to the people who were giving me advice because at the time it sounded condescending. Like I was bound to fail without their advice.

I was also very resentful when I was pregnant. Cpl. Mayhem and I were newlyweds and I wanted to spend as much time with him. We had plans and now they couldn't happen.  My career was put on hold, no more thinking of interviews with politicians and researching a story. Now my mind was on researching pediatricians and nipple cream.

I wanted to be good at motherhood, all the while knowing I don't have a single motherly bone in my body.

Has my feelings changed much now that I have two kids? Not really.

I'm still scared of being a mom especially every time we turn the corner to a new phase of childhood.

What about you? Were you scared to become a mom?
Any advice for new moms?

Valentine's Top Ten: Why My Husband Rocks!

Cpl. Mayhem and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day.

Mainly because of basic training and courses, Ducky's birth, more training and tour. Yes, he has sent me flowers but it's not a big deal if he doesn't.  He jokes every year that he will request to leave around Valentine's Day so he would miss it. And then he gets orders for, you guessed it, Valentine's Day! In fact, when he came back and told me how long his leave was I laughed cause he would be here with no excuses for not celebrating the festival of hearts! Totally caught off guard I got a couple of mumbles and then a "Crap! Who do I call to change that?" He's funny!

We celebrate homecomings. So in someways he kind of screwed himself over because there are more homecomings in a year than Valentine's Days.

In honour of the Love Day I wanted to give my top ten reasons why I still keep him around!
  1. He knows me more than I know myself!
  2. He is still cute after all these years!
  3. He thinks of me before he does anything.
  4. He loves to make me smile and laugh
  5. He surprises me whenever he can
  6. He is supports every decision I've made even if they are out there
  7. He encourages me to follow my dreams
  8. He is an amazing father!
  9. He accepts me for who I am
  10. He loves me unconditionally
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Diet Pepsi Launches The Skinny Can... BITE ME!!

Diet Pepsi will debut it’s new sleek can at Fashion Week. Harmless right? Cute even!
Until you read the press release for it:
“In celebration of beautiful, confident women, Diet Pepsi presents the taller, sassier new Skinny Can…"

Um ...What?!

"Our slim, attractive new can is the perfect complement to today's most stylish looks, and we're excited to throw its coming-out party during the biggest celebration of innovative design in the world."
Really?!
Diet Pepsi dropped the ball on this one. Not all skinny people are sassy! And bigger women aren't sassy and confident?
There really is no difference in it's size (12 ounces), except that it looks like a energy drinks, which I'm sure could be easily confused by hungry models at a backstage runway.
An oxymoron really. Calling a product "skinny" when studies suggests the artificial sugars in the diet sodas are linked to weight gain, diabetes and heart disease.
If you look back over the years yes they have had model and celebrities like Cindy Crawford, Britney Spears, and Halle Berry as spokespeople for the product, but these women are not the norm. Great to look at but not the norm.

Why do companies insist on trying to make the average woman uncomfortable in their own skin?

Nothing wrong with my cans Diet Pepsi. I will celebrate my beauty and confidence in another way.

How about a Rum a Coke?

When Everything Goes to Hell

Too much has happened today.

Nothing went right.

With Cpl. Mayhem still on leave, we've been alternating sleeping in days until he goes back to work.
Today was my sleep in day but I couldn't really sleep. Out of nowhere I hear Cpl. Mayhem groaning and calling Chicky's name.
He then starts calling my name and saying, "look what she did!" and a bunch of other things I couldn't make out.
When I get to Chicky I see what she had gotten into. My black nail polish is all over her nails, hands, toilet, floor, wall, dresser, toys and not to mention her brand new pyjamas that we picked up for her the day before.
Yes, I did leave the nail polish somewhere that she could reach it. I'm sorry! BUT in my defense he wasn't watching what she was doing causing her to go for a very long time painting the house black. How to explain to housing about this one will be fun!

I tried to scrub the polish off her new PJs but after 20 minutes I gave up and just washed them. Every advice for taking the stuff off wasn't working so I was done.

Bringing us to the afternoon.

The stench of nail polish, nail polish remover and Febreeze ( don't ask!) was starting to give me a headache so I spent the most part of my day in the basement, until Ducky and Chicky started to play down there, which is fine except they were being really loud and I had a headache!

Not fifteen minutes after getting kicked out of the basement, we hear the "scream cry". You know the one! Your child cries because he's hurt but screams because he got scared in the process of getting injured.
Cpl. Mayhem goes to the basement to find Ducky, doing what he does best. Climbing on things and falling!

He got a nice goose egg on his eyebrow. Typical right before a family function where photography will be involved. Bubble wrap the kid, I tell you!

So cuddles and asking him how many fingers I was holding up ended our day.
look at how swollen that eyebrow is!

Or so I thought.

If you were in the PMQ attached to us this what you would have heard:
"Stop running in the house"
"OK!"
BARUM, BARUM, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP
"STOP RUNNING!"
"OK!"
BARUM, BARUM, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP
"BEDTIME, YOU TWO ARE DONE!"
Crying and whimpering all the way up the stairs.

Days like theses are draining! I'm done and it's only 7:30pm!

Things That Are Funny Today!

Days have been dull the past two weeks, with the snow and lack of sun. You have to find things that will make the lazy winter days interesting.

While at the local hardware store I found the "Safe-Cut". It's meant to open CD and DVD cases, those hard to open plastic packages. But there is only one thing...

IT COMES IN THE DAMN HARD TO OPEN PLASTIC PACKAGE!

That same day I went to drop off some invites for Ducky's birthday party and this is what I found at the parking lot.

It put a smile on my face hope it puts one on yours too!

Proactiv Results!

During Canada Proactiv Blog Tour I spent 30 days washing my face with the latest Proactiv formula and waiting for the results.
Here are my findings. The product smelt really good, the three steps were simple to follow. After about a couple of days of using the product I found my skin extremely tight and uncomfortable. By the end of the first week my skin started to peel around my forehead, nose and chin.
So I stopped using it twice a day and did it once a day. But there was still a lot of burning. So I had to use the product every other day.

My after shot
My skin changes drastically during the seasons. My skin is very dry in the winter and SUPER oily in the summer. As a matter of fact, I have two different skin products I use for this reason. If this blog tour had been done in the summer I know my skin would not have reacted the way it did now.

Would I recommend this product? Yes, ONLY if you have oily skin and not worried of having your face dry out. I loved tingling feeling of clean, it left my smooth and the blemishes did go away but....

I think the Proactiv Solution Green Tea Moisturizer should be added to the steps for those with dry skin. I think it would have been perfect for people like myself who get pimples but their skin is super dry. Because most blemish treatments are drying by nature. Proactiv Solution Green Tea Moisturizer is light and absorbs instantly. It won't clog your pores or leave skin feeling greasy and suitable for all skin types.

I might purchase the product to replace my summer skin care regimen I know it will work wonders with my oily skin!!

I am participating in the New Proactiv Canada program hosted by Mom Central on behalf of Guthy-Renker. I received a 30-day trial kit and a gift card a thank you for my participation. The opinions on this blog are my own.

The Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award!

Look at this cute award I got from a fellow military wife Canadian Blogger Girl!

Her are the rules:

1. Thank the person who have you the award and link back to them in you post.
2. Tell us 7 things about yourself
3. Award 15 recently discovered new bloggers
4. Contact these bloggers and let them know they've received the award

Alright, here are my 7 things about myself:
1. I like bugging telemarketers! Hey! You called me so you are either going to get cut off right in the beginning of your speech or you are going to get every question in the book and then I'll tell you I'm not interested!
2. I LOVE CHEESECAKE! But I didn't always like it! I refused to eat it as a kid.
3. I've mastered the Cut the Rope App. I've collected all the stars and I'm now waiting for the new level!
4. I loved the movie "Easy A" and it's in my top 10 movies
