| Volunteer Appreciation Lunch! We got the cutest aprons! Can't wait for Cpl. Mayhem to wear it! |
One thing I wasn't expecting when I started to volunteer at school was an Appreciation Lunch.
It was a fun luncheon where the principal thanked the volunteers for the work we had done throughout the year.
At first I didn't think I should have been there, I only started volunteering in January when Chicky decided to get rid of the velcro between her and I and she was ok to be at school while I was there without reattaching herself to me.
That and I'm not good at being the "guest of honor" for anything, especially when it comes to things I that I don't ask to be acknowledged in the end. I volunteer so I can get out of the house and interact with other people, be involved in decisions regarding my kids and the parent council and I love doing events where the kids can get out of the classrooms for a little bit to have some fun!
Back to the lunch, we arrived at the library to find the tables and the room decorated so nice and the teachers made a pot luck lunch. I must find out who made those amazing slow cooker meatballs because they were AMAZING!
My favorite part was the school choir sang to us and it was wonderful knowing that we all touched their lives in a small way. I still get thank yous for the bagel breakfast, I know more kids in my children's class and I loved getting waves from the kids and hearing "that's Ducky and Chicky's mom!"
It was a great day!
