Momversation Monday: How Many After School Activities Does My Kid Do?...NONE!
Hello Monday!!!
With registrations coming up for spring and summer after school programs Momversation wanted to know if your kid does any after school activities.
Alice from Finslippy admits that her son isn't in any after school programs. And to be honest neither is mine.
I tried to put Ducky into soccer but once we got to the place to pick up his jersey, he said he didn't want to do it. At the time, Cpl. Mayhem heading overseas and I just saw those evenings with an infant and my son kicking and screaming his way to the soccer field and it just wasn't something I wanted to go through at the time.
I want to put the kids in after school activities, however both of my kids look so relieved to be done with structure for the day. They are so young, why can't they just be kids and have less structure instead of piling all this work. They play outside everyday, get their exercise and once they are done they come back in to do the homework they need to do for the night.
I'll put them in something over the summer vacation, but during school time it just seems like so much and who is having fun with the after school programs? If they really wanted to I wouldn't hesitate to put them in karate or ballet, but right now they both said no so I will not push them... For now.

Tokii Review
Military couple have a very hard time keeping connected with deployments and going away for exercises.
This site helps couples with discovery games that help start conversations. Tokii also has a section of games specifically geared towards military couples.
Some of the discovery games helped Cpl. Mayhem and I have some of the difficult conversations that don't usually come up in everyday talk. Some of my favorites are Understanding Emotional Pain, The Military Bubble and The Military Child. These discovery games really helped both of us understand where we were coming from and how we were feeling.It also has a Mood Meter that you can let your spouse know how you are feeling that day and a trading post section where you can plan dates and barter ideas for the event.

Dear Snowplow people,
I understand that you are very busy people during this time but I wanted to know why are the streets around the school not plowed for kids who walk to and from school?
Ducky, Chicky and I found it difficult and very dangerous to be on the road and I know we are not alone. One mom had to put her stroller on the road and was inches of being hit by a car. The main reason for my letter is I would like to find a solution to the problem. May I suggest that next time you focus on the schools first and the houses surrounding them and maybe we wouldn't have to deal with the incosiderate drivers?
I know we would all appreciate it and us parents would feel more at ease letting our kids go to school.

I not sure what to write here except shame on you!
I understand that we as pedestrians really shouldn't be on the road but when circumstances are out of our control it wouldn't hurt for you to use your common sense and SLOW DOWN!
Why are your driving like a crazy person in a SCHOOL ZONE?! I understand we all have busy lives but come on? The kids are only doing what they are told. Going to school! It's not their fault if the town didn't plow the sidewalk for them. They expect you to have the common sense (there's that word again!) to help them get to school and not to scare the crap out of them! And that goes to the driver who insisted on speeding, almost hitting a kid and then rolled his window to holler at her to get off the road.
Seriously, calm down! You will get to where you need to be when you get there. They are the ones having to deal with the cold winds, no sidewalks and the worry that you are going to forget why street signs are there.
Shame!

As we were working on homework, I was helping Chicky out with her reading when all of a sudden Ducky jumped right off his seat.
I asked what was wrong and he told that he scared himself! I couldn't help but laugh!
We were both laughing so hard Cpl. Mayhem and Chicky were looking at us funny! Ducky asked what was making me laugh.
" I saw the look on your face when you got scared but you have to see your hair, it looks like you scared it too!"
I took him to the mirror in the kitchen and his hair was standing on end! Ducky thought that was the best hair-do EVER! And that is the photo of the day!

I wish I could say I'm sorry, but I'm not. Your stuff has been here for 7 years now and I no longer want it in my house. In fact, I'm still being rather generous keeping some stuff for you but they have to be gone soon. If we get posted Cpl. Mayhem won't have any problems tossing the filing cabinet away. If you want it, please come and get it, if not it's going to go too.
Your toys have been washed and donated and anything that looked in good condition went too, I'm sure you would have done the same, especially since some of the clothes I found you wouldn't fit it now. There was one specific toy that I did save, a whale that mom made you. I know you had that thing everywhere you went to I'm holding onto it for you. OK, let me clarify, Chicky is holding onto it and you might have to fight her for it!
In any event, the rest of the stuff is here for the taking. You have my email so you can let me know when you want it. This is my last effort to get them to you. Can't say that I didn't try?!
