365 Photo Challenge Day 119

The family went out to pick up some last minute items before the weekday started again. By the time we were done everyone was exhausted and patience were wearing thin.

As we were driving I saw a sign flashing on a used car dealership and I thought "I must have been reading it wrong".

"Did you see that sign?", I asked Cpl. Mayhem. "I'm sure they misspelled something".
Without hesitating Cpl. Mayhem makes a turn because I was laughing too hard and he wanted to see it too.

When we get there we both start taking photos like we are tourist who have never seen a sign before.
But really, can you blame us:

Where did this cold come from?!

The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet

My newest TV obsession is The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet, executive produced by Demi Moore and Amanda de Cadenet, this shows is an intimate interview show that talks to celebrities about what women talk about just sitting on the sofa with their girlfriends. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!

What I appreciate the most about the show is that you really feel a part of the conversation and you get to see a true side of the person they are interviewing. Not the glamourous lifestyle, red carpet actresses, you are seeing what makes them tick, what they believe, what makes them who they are and how they got there.

I can't wait for the next episode!

You can go to to watch their very first episode called Love and Loss.

365 Photo Challenge Day 114

It's not the best photo but it's there to explain the story
The last time the kids and I went to visit my parents we made a trip to IKEA. It reopened back in January and I was pretty excited to see it.
One of the perks of going to IKEA is that they provide childcare if needed. So for 45 minutes you can drop your child off while you shop. They give your child a jersey with a number and you fill out the forms and they give you a buzzer in case the kids need you.

Ducky and Chicky just loved playing in the ball pit and just running around. When their 45 minutes were up I picked them up and we continued through the store Ducky saw another kid and said hi. I was confused and asked if he was a friend from school.

Ducky then looked up at me and said, "No mom that's number 2!"

Later days!

365 Photo Challenge Day 112

Sunday the family went to town to see the Home Showcase and it turned out to be a great time!

Chicky rode on a pony!
Ducky wasn't too interested!

He wanted to see the snakes!
The creepy snakes...

Oh look Chicky and Cpl. Mayhem are into it too...
One thing the kids really enjoyed looking at were the RVs. Is it just me or are those things nicer than the PMQs we live in?!
If I had a million dollars....
Anyways, it was one of the only days this week that had some sun so my neighbours built the fence for their dog, while the ladies chatted the guys put up the fence. It wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be, ( the fence was originally ours but since the kids don't tend to stay in one backyard in the neighbourhood and we aren't getting a dog anytime soon, it just made sense to give it someone who was going to use it) but it will do the trick.
The guys having a quick chat about what to do next!
A great day was had by all! Enjoy the weekend with your families!!

My top beauty product!!

Have you ever had a beauty product that you swore that you would use for the rest of your life? It's not like the other products that you say you are going to use but after a season you never use it again. This item is the one you go back to and you pray that it never gets discontinued and it's the only product that you beeline to the aisle because you know where it is and it's the only item that you would ask a sales assistant to go to the back of the store to see if they have any left.

This is my product!

I don't know why I'm going to give you this embarrassing story but here it is. Ever since I hit puberty when I got nervous I would sweat. Not just sweat, leaving wet rings under my armpits kind of sweat.
I did my best to cover it, I didn't wear my school cardigan because I thought it looked cool, it was hiding my white shirt!

My embarrassing moment came when I was in college and I was in the television studio adjusting the hot studio lights, I was on a ladder and I could feel the sweat starting to form. By the time I was done my baby blue shirt was dark blue and I didn't stop to talk to anyone, I just ran home, changed and went to my oasis, Shoppers Drug Mart!

There I found Drysol. It comes in either a dab-on bottle or one you add to a cotton swab. Put it on over night and it's a dream. I used it for 7 nights and I was instantly dry!
Now, eleven years later,  I use it a couple of days before a special occasions, every other day during the summer and a couple of days before an interview or anything that would make me nervous.

There are two things I have to say if you choose to use it, something I'm sure the instructions say but I learned the hard way.
ONE never use it if you shaved under your arms, it stings, BAD!
TWO don't wear your cute tops to bed if you are going to use Drysol, the product will discolour your clothes.

Now tell me, what is your "it" product?! The one you can't live without?

Volunteer Appreciation Lunch!
We got the cutest aprons!
Can't wait for Cpl. Mayhem to wear it!

One thing I wasn't expecting when I started to volunteer at school was an Appreciation Lunch.
It was a fun luncheon where the principal thanked the volunteers for the work we had done throughout the year.
At first I didn't think I should have been there, I only started volunteering in January when Chicky decided to get rid of the velcro between her and I and she was ok to be at school while I was there without reattaching herself to me.
That and I'm not good at being the "guest of honor" for anything, especially when it comes to things I that I don't ask to be acknowledged in the end. I volunteer so I can get out of the house and interact with other people, be involved in decisions regarding my kids and the parent council and I love doing events where the kids can get out of the classrooms for a little bit to have some fun!

Back to the lunch, we arrived at the library to find the tables and the room decorated so nice and the teachers made a pot luck lunch. I must find out who made those amazing slow cooker meatballs because they were AMAZING!

My favorite part was the school choir sang to us and it was wonderful knowing that we all touched their lives in a small way. I still get thank yous for the bagel breakfast, I know more kids in my children's class and I loved getting waves from the kids and hearing "that's Ducky and Chicky's mom!"

It was a great day!

Soldier's Passing Announced Through Facebook AGAIN!

Back in February, a fellow blogger Krystel from Army Wife 101 wrote a post about her frustration with a news clip about two soldiers who died in Afghanistan violence and the widow found out on FACEBOOK!

When I first heard this I thought, why in God's name would someone do that?! I was horrified that someone could be so careless to assume that all the family memebers were inform of the death. And why would someone do it so publicly?!

So here I am, almost two months later and there is another article of a solider who died by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) and the widow found out how? Let's take a guess shall we? FACEBOOK!

What the Hell?!

Who gives these women the right to become the bearer of bad news? And through FACEBOOK?! There is a protocol that the military as well as the family have to go through! SHAME!

The widow did say it best! She was quoted saying, "She wasn't supposed to but I guess she took it on her own power to do it".

Here's my thing.

Living on base where EVERYONE knows other people's business is tough, learning when to shut up seems to be the difficult part for most. If it were you, would like to find out tragic news like that through someone on your Facebook page?? Think about that before you decided to air someone else's laundry for the world to see!

My biggest problem is OPSEC.

For those who don't know. OPSEC stands for Operations Security and is the process that identifies critical information to determine if friendly actions can be observed by adversary intelligence systems, determines if information obtained by adversaries could be interpreted to be useful to them, and then executes selected measures that eliminate or reduce adversary exploitation of friendly critical information.

That was the Wikipedia version. Allow me to translate.

OPSEC pretty much means, information such as tour dates, flights to and from locations, where the tours are taking place and what is happening (if you are lucky enough to get that info) is not to be shared to the masses.

Some may not even know they are doing it!

"So sad hubby leave for (insert tour area) in 5 days :( "
"20 hours and I have my husband is home!"

It's a SAFETY issue people!  And since everyone loves to post photos with cute sayings on it, here are mine:
