365 Photo Challenge Day 146: The Problem With Swings

Push me Mama!

When we go to the park, don't you as a parent enjoy going to chat with other moms? It's the rare time where we can catch up and laugh.
Except when the kids choose to play on the swings.
We can push them and talk but after almost being smacked in the face when Chicky was swinging back I decided she was more than capable to continue to swing on her own.

I slowly move out of the way and us moms are able to continue our chat.

"Mama! Push me!"

I go back, give her a couple of big pushes and tell her to pump her legs. I walk back to the moms.

Another child is asking for their mom to push them.

This goes back and forth for a little while and our conversation never gets completed. Next time we are going to find a park without the swings! HAHAHA!

What a wonderful warm day it was!

While I was watching TV downstairs I kept hearing this weird sound...

To me it sounded like a big fly that kept hitting the wall in the same place.

At first I didn't notice it but then it kept going for a while and I wondered to myself, after the first five times wouldn't this fly choose to change directions if the outcome was the same. Bumping into the same spot after the first time would have possessed me to consider a second option.

As another five minutes went by I decided to investigate the noise. I could have gone right away but I was really into this movie I was watching and I really was hoping that the fly would have change it's course by now.

I start to walk up the stairs and the noise became really clear, I had no choice but to grab my camera and capture the cuteness!!

A little trivia for you. The blanket Chicky has
was my baby blanket! The hope is to keep it
for the first grandchild.

The noise was Chicky snoring. Her snore made it sound like a buzzing fly and when she would breath out the floor boards bumped making the thumping sounds.
I'm still trying to figure out why she was on the stairs in the first place.

OH BOY!

Homework is not fun.
There I said it!

It's a fight to have Ducky sit down and do homework. Can you blame him? At school all day and then he has to come home and work more? I'm not saying homework isn't beneficial in anyway but it's exhausting having to convince, beg and plead and argue just to get a couple of pages and a reading book done a night.

I had to document the day when Ducky did his homework without a fight and he did great!!

Ducky and Chicky have crawled into our bed since they were able to get out of their beds in the middle of the night. 

Every excuse in the books has been used for the reason behind the late night visit.

After a long day all I wanted to do was curl up with a good book and get ready for bed. I crawl into bed and guess who I found there:

Me: Chicky, put your toys away.

Chicky: Okay, Mama.

(walking towards the steps)

Me: Chicky, I said put your toys away.

Chicky: I did!

Me: I meant put them in the playroom, not on the steps.

Chicky: But they are out of the living room.

Me: I can't win!

Or maybe the problem really isn't communication, maybe it's lack of listening.

I'm sorry what did you say?! 

Chicky: Mom, when's the Jello gonna be ready?

Me: It won't be ready till after supper.

Ducky: What did you say about Ninjago?!

Me: I didn't say Ninjago Ducky, I said Jello.

Chicky: THE JELLO IS READY!!

Me: No it's not, it will be ready after supper.

Ducky: We are having Jello for supper?!

Me: Sigh!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

I hope every mom had a great Mother's Day!!

My day started off at 4:30am when Cpl. Mayhem sent a card to my phone. He wanted to be sure that I at least got this card before he left for work!

He's too sweet!

Once the kids were up they gave me the best gifts! Chicky made me a jewelry box at school and Ducky gave me what I could describe as an "Appreciation Mom". So when I was feeling sad or frustrated that I should pull out one of the slips of paper and read something that he wrote that he loved about me.

LOVE THEM!!

Ducky wanted to read a couple right then an there so the three I pulled out were:

"You always remember to turn off my nightlight"
"You clean the house really well!"
"You are the best mom in the world!"


The morning was spent with very little fighting (shocking!) and it was just really nice to spend the time with the kids!
After lunch we cleaned out last year's flower planter and added new seeds that we got a couple of weeks before at a fair. Chicky has been wanting to do this for a long time and weather was so nice it was really hard not to!

Are they growing yet?

Once we were done I took my book out to read while Chicky played with chalk and Ducky was running around with his friends. I have a feeling this outfit will be worn most of the summer if you haven't noticed it in a previous picture.

Once Ducky came home I decided to treat me and the kids to something at Tim Horton's. They were being really good and it was Mother's Day!

A trip to the park rounded out our day by the time it was bedtime there were no arguments, just too really tired and happy kids, as well as a really happy mommy!

Dropping off Cpl. Mayhem at work I noticed that there were not one but TWO family of geese. Since the kids were kind of upset that dad was leaving for a couple of days and they lost their weekend with him before he left I told them I would park the car so we could see the family.

Come closer! I DARE you!!

The kids loved watching the goslings following their mom and dad, they kept asking if they could pet them. As I was trying to explain to them that they were wild animals but we could get a little closer if we were quiet and walked really slow.

Well that didn't go so well with Father Goose...

Did you know they hiss when they feel threatened?! I sure didn't! So I gathered my kids and told them that there was another family by the gate with a good distance between the parents that we could look at.

They sure were cute!!!

So I learned something new that day. When geese hiss back away!!!
